The H.A.R.P. Museum at the Irish Cultural Center continues its popular Lunch and Learn series on Wednesday, August 12th at 11 AM, with a special viewing of the first episode of the documentary “Rhéabhlóid Mheiriceá: Na Laochra Gael” or “Irish Heroes of the American Revolution.” This documentary is a perfect complement to the current H.A.R.P. Museum exhibit "Ireland and the Making of America."

In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary declaring its independence from Great Britain, the Irish Cultural Center of the Mohawk Valley is proud to present episode one - “A Nation is Born” -- that tells the story of several Irish immigrants who greatly contributed to the founding of our nation. 

Just to Name a Few…

They include: Charles Thomson, a native of County Londonderry who arrived as a fatherless and penniless boy and went on to become the Secretary of the Continental Congress; Stephen Moylan from County Cork, whose expertise in shipping logistics led to several commanding positions in the Continental Army and was the first to use the phrase "United States of America” in writing; Henry Knox, the son of Ulster immigrants who went from bookstore owner to Secretary of War as the result of his heroic efforts to force the British Army out of Boston; and John Barry of Wexford, who earned the title “Father of the American Navy” 

The series was made available through TG4, the Irish language television station, and producer GMarshTV. The film is approximately 50 minutes long.
