Ah yes, we all love everything about Ireland: Danny Boy. Corned beef and cabbage. Four-leaf clovers. Top o’ the mornin’ to ya.
What if we told you that none of that is Irish?
The fact is that much of what we’ve been told and have been led to believe is representative of the Emerald Isle, in fact, has little to do with Ireland and is about as authentic as Tom Cruise’s Irish accent in “Far And Away.”
It can all get so confusing. So how can we avoid embarrassing ourselves when we try to talk about Irish culture? Fear not. To learn more about these misconceptions and find out some surprising facts about what’s actually Irish and what isn’t, join local musician, writer and devotee of all things Irish, Mark Sisti, for a light-hearted presentation on “Debunking Irish Myths” at the Irish Cultural Center’s H.A.R.P. Museum on March 8 at 7 p.m.
The Irish Cultural Center is located at 623 Columbia St. in Utica NY.
